I wonder if you problem is the fact that you're using DVD+R disc's. I'm using a Pioneer DVR-104 which uses DVD-R disc's and I have had no problems in copying/playing PS2 DVD games or playing DVD copies on my Panasonic RA60 dvd player.

Be advised, that not all drives support DVD+R - and not all drives support DVD-R either!

In larger tests, the player support for dvd-r has been someting like 70% and dvd+r little over that. But still, there are players that cannot read dvd-/+r disks.

PS2 is cranky about +R disks if you are using PAL V4 or older. After V5 they will read +R disks.

It's not that you dvd+r writer sucks or is bad, you just don't have the right players :-)

You should also try different DVD+R medias, since that has some effect on the readability as well. Try at least two different medias, if you cant get you standalone player to work with them, change your drive or player. Try Verbatim +R media, it is a bit expensive but I am sure you can spend little $$??££ for couple of disks to test this.
