its total BS, i got it to back up my 200 DVDs and it just doesnt work, i make a perfect copy and works on pc but not on DVD even with bitsetter. Then i read about different discs some work some dont, some work on one but not another. Its just a pile of crap to be honest, ive never known anything to be such a total cockup! I think ill just take it back and tell them to shove it!

What dvd+rw drive did you get?

Have you tried upgrading the firmware? ;)

If you got a DVD-RW drive that is less than 300 bucks than you got a cheap one that is no good. Things are cheap for a reason, not just because its a cheap brand.

Just a note on buying a cheap dvd-rw.....Day after Thanksgiving sale at Office Max, they had a Cendyne dvd-rw for $170 after rebates. Had never heard of the company, so I did a little research. Much to my delite, all it is is a repackaged Pioneer DVR-104. Sprinted to the store!!!!! All the stickers on it label it Pioneer, and shows up in the control panel as Pioneer. Did the Pioneer firmware upgrade and its working perfectly. Had never seen it that cheap before.

Cendyne drives are very good buys. They rebadge the top selling burners. Most of their cdrw drives are LiteOn.The deal for the DVD drives was a good indication of buying Cendyne. You often get the newer drive in the box. Many got the A05 for $170.I have purchased at least a dozen Cendyne drives, including the 52/24/52 (LiteOn) for $20 after rebate.

Yeah, I work at Staples, and we had the same deal on the day after Thanksgiving sale, me and the other Tech there got one, because we knew there were pioneer drives in the box, I got the a05 and he got the a04, and I had never heard of Cendyne until I started working there, but they almost always put a good drive in a box with their name on it

Does anyone know where I can get the firmware for the Pioneer a05?
