Well as of right now, I'm thinking about purchasing one of those new PStwo slimlines, and also of purchasing one of those DMS4 E.Z.I. (Effort Zero Installation) modchips I keep hearing of. After reading around a lot, it seems like it's actually a pretty revolutionary chip, and you don't have to solder, ANYTHING! That's what I like the most, and you can practically play everygame with it, or at least I think so (I could be wrong).

Well keep us informed about how that is going for you. Has anyone else had experience with the PSTwo slimline mod chips (no magic, ghost, or swap)?

Hi BadBoy787
If you want to install DMS4 EZI on slim PSTwo, you also need to buy extra case which will make PSTwo bulky. If you bother about the size of the PSTwo then it may not be suitable.

Yeah, um, I dunno where you got that extra case info from, but it's supposed to work w/o this extra case crap. It says so on the manufacturer's site.

Hey all,
I have successfully installed a mod chip in the new PStwo's which is the slimeline one, i had it installed at some shopw by the name of acegamestore.com, also a site if u wish to go there.
The chip i have is the Crystal one, not sure exactly wat its called but it runs well.
The bad thing about the new PSTwos is the laser... The laser is quiet easy to blow up, a bad disk is usualy a result of this. You can get a laser replacement though which will turn off the PSTwo before the laser is blown, which will save u approx. $90-$100 per laser replacement. Also a recent GTA game by the name of San Andreas has a pottential game fault which will screw up your laser, acegamestore.com have already had to fix 200+ lasers due to this..

The acegamestore.com store i visisted was in Australia/Victoria/Melbourne, im not sure if there are any others located around Australia/World.

On DMS's site it says that a case is required, for both the PSTwo, and PS2 becuase the mod chip is too big for both. As you can see on the site none of the PST(2)s are in the originol cases.

Have you tried playing GTASA on it? Do you know if it does this to both the PS2, PSTwo? Do you know if its only if you have a modded console?

I was actually thinking of getting the PS2Lid and Swap Magic in a combo (Ps2cover.com is offering it for 34.99 USD) but after checking out the DMS forums, it looks like we should all wait for the DMS4 E.Z.I to come out. It's set to be priced at around $70 for the lite (and $85 for the pro version) and will be compatible with all PS2s v5 and up (there's still some talk about the v4s gap/no-gap issue and rumors that there will be no compatibility for anything older).

For the v12 (AKA PSTwo / Slimline) they're in the process of developing a new case as the old one will be too big to house the chipset.

Although the price tag is fairly high, it does boast some amazing features :
1.) It's solder-free
2.) Takes 15-20 minutes to install
3.) Will auto-detect media
4.) Will auto-boot media

If I were you, I'd wait to see what people who pre-ordered have to say about it's reliability and about it burning out the PS2 lasers. Other than that, it looks truly amazing.

And what is it with everyone asking if it will boot GTA:SA? That game must really kick ass.
