Ripping dvd's to avi or anything else skips

I have tried many ripping programs to rip my dvd's to divx or mpeg and every time i playback the file it always skips kind of a hiccup at the begining and the audio is out of sync even though i tell the program to sync the audio. Can someone tell me if i need a special driver or what?

I have tried using #1 dvd ripper and dvd to smartphone, and i keep getting the same thing. can anyone tell me what program works for them or if i have to change anything. i am not changing any settings when i rip only telling it to rip to divx and setting the quality.
