I have a NEC 3500 AG drive using 2.18 firmware. I am burning with Nero 6.3.1.18 Xpress OEM version.

System specs:
2.4 Pentium IV
512 DDR 333 Ram
Geforce 4 MX
Windows XP SP 2

DVD media is Ridata 8X DVD-R

The progress meter stays at 1% and the buffer stays at 0% anytime I set the drive to "non-multisession burns". I am forced to stop the burning in order to exit Nero. In the end, I am left with a corrupt disk. I waited for over an hour sometimes and the progress remains at zero. I have lost over 5 DVDs and any help would be greatly appreciated.

However, if I set Nero to Multisession burn, the buffer moves normally and the progress goes to 100. However, the disk obviously will not finalize and it probably wont' work for backing up PS2 or DVD movies. (I haven't tried but can someone confirm for non finalized disks). So essentially all I can do is burn non-finalized disks.

Any help woudl be greatly appreciated.
