Tired of swapping, don't know how to mod, want to buy a pre-modded ps2 since my version 1 ps2 is going on about 7 years and the laser is losing functionality. Has anybody successfully bought a premodded ps2 at an online store that can play backups upon insertion as well as imports? thanks.
i know a few people that have bought a premodded ps2 from an online store and they work fine. I am buying a premodded pstwo with the DMS4 today. i am gonna get it from www.socalmods.com or www.xmodd.com i still havent decided
I've heard nothing but good things about www.norcalmods.com . Haven't dealt with them personally, but judging by the pics on their website of their installs, they do top notch work.
whoa, didn't know there were so many different style mods, matrix infinity, etc and they all have different features most of which I've never heard of. There used to be a thread that compared the different mods but I can't find it and I've noticed several recent posts saying that some of the mod chips have caused disc read problems. I need to do some research quick. Can anybody hook me up with a quick link to a thread that explains the mod features?
There was something about a mega memory card. I have four now and if I could maximize the space better it would help. Especially if I could put game saves on my HDD.
the DMS4Pro looks pretty sweet since it seems to have a lot more features than any of the others. However, I then went to the fileforums forums and saw that apparently all the mods that are out now are not 100% reliable and that most are waiting for new mods or at least for those who want a modded new slim-ps2. That could be an old post though. Otherwise I better start saving up $300 for the socalmods.com DMS4Pro pre installed console.
I feel like I wasted my $250 plus on my HDD120GB+HD ADvance1.0+NA bundle.
Doesn't seem like any of the major stores are seeling premodded old PS2s so I can use both.
honestly, I bought the first ps2 when it came out like 7 years ago and I've developed what web forum doctors call a "weak laser". It doesn't read swap magic discs or even regular discs all the time. I usuually need about 6 reboots to get HD Advance discs loaded. I have circular scratches all over my games (especially RPGS like La Pucelle) (fortunately now all the scratches are on the d-skins but I'm sure they probably obscure the laser reading anyway). If I'm going to upgrade I'm going all the way.
I hope there aren't any significant differences in gaming quality between the new and old ps2 besides the internal NA on the new.
Ah... good idea then. The only bad thing I've heard about the PSTwo is the laser problem (which evidently has been fixed in the latest units, and for the not so latest units can be prevented with the little board that's shipping with all new crystal chips), and the fact that not all modchips work with it. The good ones do though.
