Another question I have re making good bac-ups regards media. I have read about the importance of using good qaultiy media, but can any experts advise what would be considered a reasonably well priced, good quality writable DVD brand. My experiences so far with Shrick and Nero are mixed (even with the same media brand. Would reducing the write speed reduce errors. I currently use 8X

Any help from expereinced "backeruppers" appreciated

yes it does same as everything in life you get more quality the more you pay

I use ritek traxdata......and also datawrite which I believe are some subsidgery of ritek ....they work well for My set up but are not reknowned to be the top quality of dvd-r media

so yes quality is an issue

the main thing is buy from reputable resellers such as rima, newegg, and supermediastore
personally i use rima exclusively and sometimes newegg
taiyo yuden, ritek "branded" ridata, prodisc to name a few
just remember you get what you pay for

as for burn speed, i don't burn over 4x and most others don't either (i choose quality over speed)
