Swap Magic 3 with PS games?

I have read posts that say the Swap Magic 3 boot disc will work for booting regular Playstation games (not JUST Playstation 2), but in the FAQ on their official website it says:
Q. Does Swap Magic work with PSX backup and/or import games?
A. Pure and simple NO! The Swap Magic Discs are designed to give the best possible performance for PlayStation2 games only. PSX games has not been considered at all in the development, and will not be in the future! To play PSX backups, you will need another backup solution, and should not choose the Slide-Tool.
Can someone explain? Will Playstation 1 games boot ok or not?

Thanks for the reply.
So if the Swap Magic discs don't boot PS1 backups, why do so many people claim that theirs do? Are they doing something different, do they all just have something else in combination with Swap Magic (like Breaker Pro)?
Even the sticky thread here on these forums, "PS2 And Swap Magic Help~PLEASE READ~", says this:
Swap Magic is a CD Based Modchip for the PS2 that can boot PS2 and PSX(PS1) Backups.
I just want to make sure of whats absolutely necessary before spending money on the mods. It's confusing reading many posts that all seem to have conflicting information.

no, swap magic alone cannot boot ps1 backups.

no, swap magic is for ps2 games and breaker pro (or ps1 gameshark i think) combined with swap magic is for ps1 games.

Aloha sly_61019,
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my son spike808. He asked if I could help. I hope that you can help me to help him. We have a Mac G4 with a Pioneer 108 burner, Swap Magic CD & DVD v 2 and a Modchip v 4, no solder instauled in the PS2. We also have Toast 6, DVD2OneX and DVDBackup software.
We need to find out the steps to burn backup copies of PS2 games that he has..
He has already destroyed, by not carring for them, a few PS2 games that has cost around $49 each. Thank you for your help.
