dvd2oneX works great for splitting disks but it's not obvious at first glance.

It doesn't have a SPLIT button or menu. But what works GREAT from personal experience is that DVD's have a natural split at the DUAL LAYER boundary.

What I've found from personal experience is that most movies jump from layer 1 to layer 2 video at a very "appropriate" moment in the movie so noone sees even the smallest flicker in video stream. A dark moment, a pause, a scene switch but overall it appears studios have deliberately mastered their dvd's so that layer transition is as imperceptible as possible.

The key is that DVD2OneX lists all the video title sets by Cells, Chapters or **LAYERS**.

What to do:

RIP a dvd to hard disk with macRipper
Then open VIDEO_TS of movie on hard disk with DVD2OneX and select two things

Movie instead of DiskCopy option
select to list by Layers.

Select Layer 1 and deselect layer 2 check box and say go and it will process just Layer 1 video and rip it out of the existing VTS files.

when done - go back and switch to just layer 2
process again

Go each layer to a dvd with toast and cut your two DVD's.

You will notice that unlike some PC splitting engines that fill the first dvd FULL and then put the remainder on a second dvd - you will get two dvd's with generally around 3.5gb each because of the way the studios choose to slice the dual layers.

I've had 100% success with this - good luck.
