Hi.

After you download a music file in some obscure, restricted, time-limited, for-this-computer-only format that requires internet authorization before you can play it, here's what to do:

Right-click on the file, and choose "delete" from the drop-down menu. This will send the propritary, self-serving file to a place called "The Recycle Bin".

Be sure to empty out your Recycle bin periodicaly so as not to clog-up your valuable disc space with limited-use files such as this.

Now, do a web-search for decent, industry & web standard .MP3 files that can be played with ANY number of totally free players, at ANY time, as OFTEN as you like, on WHOEVER'S computer you feel like when and if the mood should strike you.

One day you'll thank me for this.

(You're welcome).

it depends entirely on the type of file, i am assuming that it'll be some type of program. You can either register or buy it online (there may be instructions as you set it up) or you can search using whatever P2P or Google for a "crack" or "keygen" for the program or file you have downloaded. This crack or keygen will allow you to enter a registration code which will unlock your program. Or you can search for the webpage of the copyright owners or programmers of the software and see what that says.

Yeah, he never really did say what type of file he had downloaded.

Thanks for the P2P tip. I don't know why, but I hadn't thought about that.

if you're using grokster or kazaa, then you will need to go into your "my kazaa/grokster" screen. from there you should see all of your shared files. right click to select one of them and a new menu should appear. go to edit details then you should be able to input a warning if you want to.
