Nero Recode 2 + hdtv input file problem

I have a very large mpeg 2 file (25GB) of hdtv material. The resolution is 1280x1088 (yes, 1088) and it has a 5.1 ac3 audio track. It plays fine in WMP. My goal is to transcode it to nero digital. When I choose Import Title, pick the .mpg file, click Add Title, and then Finished, the application hangs (for at least 30 min, I killed it after that). I see no cpu activity or any increase in memory usage. I am using the latest version of Nero Recode as found on the nero website as of today.

Any ideas? Is this just a bug? Is there a limit to the input file size?

Any help would be appreciated.
