thanks alot,but if i want sound on the dvd i burned,do i need it or it doesnt matter

A sound card will only give you sound from your PC, i.e. from your media player or from your music cds or for when you play dvds.
It does not effect the sound when burning cds or dvds. I see your logic, but it is just not quite right!!
