i live in toroto and i would like to mod my ps slim but i dont want to do it my self. and i know of one guy at china town and he wants $150 for some chip called the nx9 and he says that i shouldnt play ps1 originals ,imports or backups and i cant watch dvd movies. so this guys is a totol rip . so i need some other place to get it done in toronto. so anyone here know of any place in toronto or in surounding area that i can get my ps-two chipped thanks?

I could do it but I live in California you will have to mail me you PS2. Or you could also Go to like a hardware store or like a TV repair shop were they might know how to solder and ask them if they can do it for you. You'll probably have to give them the modchip and the diagrams if they don't know what a modchip is

theres a few stores at pacific mall that would do it for u which is at kennedy and finch i think or u could try this place place called new century games in a plaza at warden and steeles. both pretty reasonable and reliable. good luck.

here's some advice... wherever you get it modded, just make sure they test everything infront of you before you leave with the system, this holds true especially for pacific mall. I know of a guy that does a good job but he lives in niagara.

Go to Pacific Mall for sure. I got mine modded for $100. That's just the chip and soldering but you can pay a bit more and they'll include some games with it too. Place I went to was Softmart Video Game Entertainment Inc. Number to call is (905)948-9880. There are other stores in there, but they usually won't let you mod it without getting the game bundle, and I just didn't like some of their attitudes. The guys at Softmart were nice and tested a few games out with me before I walked away too. There's also a few other places I can think of that I haven't tried myself, such as the Warden & Steeles plaza (as mentioned by badboy626), or Dragon Centre (forget the intersection sorry). My modded slim PS2 can play imports, PS1, and watch movies too.

I live in the Toronto area there is a place in lansdown and queen check near brock bus stop there is a place around there.The sign is in White with red marking. Good luck finding it

Guys Pacific mall installs clone/fake modchips.
They dupe you into beliving its real, their latest scam is telling you you are getting a matrix infinity, however its a clone/fake infinity chip.
For $100 you can get a real chip & install ! (v1-v10) slim prices see post below.

$115 and $125.

There is a place on the North side of Wilson, just west of Bathurst, they have one of those huge annoying black and fluorescent cardboard standup signs that says ps2 and xbox mods. I haven't dealt with them personally, but they are probably worth checking out. If I see a phone number next time I pass by, I'll let you know. I think its called "PC by design" or something like that.

Uh.. where d'u hear that? And can you be absolutely sure that ALL the stores at pacific (there's like 4 or 5 in all) do this? The PS2 I left to get modded play all games I've tried so far, and they didn't tell me it was Matrix Infinity either. I was told when I called a month or so after that I had either Messiah or NH9 installed.

im 100% sure, theyve been doing it since day 1 that clones/fakes existed. The chips only cost $4-$5 each. I purchased a batch of them once, they are shit. Use very shitty quality components. Sure it works, but its not reliable for long term. You may be lucky but its like playing russian roulette, 1 out of each barrel will be shot.
# 1 people come to me after their expiration with pmall and their system f*ks up, what do I see clone/fake chip !
# 2, I know at least two of their suppliers personally, From places they supply, I remember the name of one is beehive (because I made fun of it heh, the other store s I forget the name), anyways he provides them with NH9's, modbo etc.
# 3 NH9 and Messiah are clone/fake chips !! don't you guys read ps2-scene forums ??
There are tons of clones/fakes circulating. You are not getting what you pay for.
For $100 you can get the authentic chip + install, done by people that are more qualified, with actual certification for pcb and operator soldering.
