Is there a special Soldering tool i need to solder in a Modchip? I have a DMS4 Pro, but there is no way i can solder the wires on. I have a regular soldering tool, but its so big I will probobly solder more that just the one specific piece.

Alright, I found a guy who thinks he can do it. I have a V1 and a V9 already. Where do I tell him to place the chip, or does it matter?

Anywhere, wherever is easier to install. Just make sure it doesn't short out on the metal plate or any components.

I know I can Do it. The soldering iron doesn't matter. You are putting Solder on the WIRE NOT the Soldering iron. The Iron is just to heat the solder in order to get it to melt on the circuit board and wire.

the soldering iron does matter, especially to those who aren't confident with their soldering skills. a high wattage iron can damage the board, bigger ones are harder to use, especially for tiny applications, such as the ps2 motherboard. they are more likely to form bridges, and its damn near impossible to solder a wire onto a tiny smd component with a huge tip. soldering the ps2 takes quite some skill. if an inexperienced person has trouble performing the task correctly, then that person will be more likely to cause damage to the ps2.

For electronics a 15 watt soldering iron is ok But the tip doesn't matter much. I have been able to solder modchips successfully with a broken tip. If you aply solder to the iron and not instead of the pount you can solder two points together.

since you seem like you have very good soldering skills it'll be a lot easier for you. but what i was trying to say is that people that aren't confident may not be able to perform the task as easily as you would. just because skilled and experienced individuals such as yourself can do it, it doesn't mean everyone else can. gillberg made the right choice in leaving it to someone that is confident with their soldering skills. the dms4 pro is a hard modchip to install. i would think twice myself if i were to install it, especially in a V9.

dude be carefull. I tried to solder my own PS2 when a bought a mod and I ended up screwing up my PS2
