I'm a new member but use the forums often for help if I get in a jam with a dvd backup. I recently bought my children the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang special edition and tried to rip and copy it using dvd decrypter and dvd shrink...nothing would work. I tried every setting under the sun. I also tried anydvd and clonedvd2 to no avail. I was going crazy. My children are hard on dvd's and I knew this wouldn't last long. This dvd was fresh out of the box and it would get to 50% and fail. Anything I tried...at the same point. No dirty disc..brand new. Not a scratch on it. New. Well last night I tried it again and it still failed. I almost had given up. Then I fired up dvd decrypter this afternoon and saw there was a newer version today. I uninstalled old version and installed new and lo and behold...it now can decrypt the one file it couldn't decrypt before. I've read a 100 threads here and other places with people insisting there was no new encryption where this has been happening on some movies. Almost calling people nuts and instead of blaming the cheap media...blaming some make believe encryption. Well it's true....there was something on this dvd that couldn't be ripped...now it can. I had fought with this dvd for over a month now on a daily basis....and magically with today's update to dvd decypter...it was decrypted. What could it have been? I was getting cdc errors at 50% on both sides of the disc. The movie played fine both in my dvd home player and comp. Weirdest thing I've run across. So glad it's over. Was going to alert another member they can decrypt it now...but I couldn't post to that thread. It was too old. Maybe they'll see it and see they can do it now too.
