Rip Region 2 DVD in a Region 1 DVD-ROM

Is this possible? I've ripped numerous Region 1 DVDs with no problems. With a region 1, I need to unlock the drive, then rip the DVD with SmartRipper. Would I be able to do this with any region DVDs? THanx!

It depends alot on the method of ripping you're using. If unlocking the drive involves launching a DVD-player application then region coding might be an issue. You can check if your DVD drive is region locked using the DVD Drive Info software: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/specific.cfm?id=115
