message posted ... I have downloaded a film .mpg from winmx. i have burnt it as data to a dvd-r using nero 6. it will not play in dvd - check disk/disk error. my dvd has never had a problem playing copies before. i have checked that it can play dvd-r it would not even read multi-region fix posted on this site. is there any way of checking the settings on nero/my dvd writer?

You can't just burn a downloaded movie as data to a dvd blank. Most downloads need converted to proper dvd format. Try the free program called DVDSanta. It should convert your download for you.
