I need help figuring out why i just have a blank video screen after i had a dms4 installed in my v7 ps2? When my friend installed it, i turned it on and the red light came on, so I pushed the power button and the green light came on, but nothing except the blue video screen, now the chip is out of my ps2 and it's still the same thing. Does anyone have any ideas about what could be wrong?
Sounds like a solder bridge on the Bios Chip. I can't really remember which ones they are, but look around wires D and F, and then Wires N, M, K, J. What you are looking for is a short between the pads on D & F, and a short between any of the legs of the chip around wires J-N. That is a tricky place to solder and caused me problems with a DUO2 installation.
Thanks:-) I finally got to the place where I can diable the chip but then I had MAJOR problems:-P Anyway, got a new ps2 and was installing the chip in it. I soldered all the wires to the board first and then started soldering them to the modchip. The C & A points came right off of the modchip so now I don't know what to do. Is there anyway to solder the wires on still and save my chip do you think?
IF the solder pads came off, You could be in for some trouble, especially if you have never repaired circuit boards. If you go to www.digikey.com they have circuit board repair kits, but it's not easy to do, and it sounds like you probably don't have much experience soldering.
I don't have any experience soldering, my husbands friend that is installing it for me has quite alot of experience, I talked to the tec support from the place that I ordered my chip from and he said it was no problem, just solder to the point that is 2cm away from the point A & C. If that doesn't work i'll just send it back. I ordered 2 from them so they sent me a duo2x for my xbox, but there is no way i'm even gonna try to attemt that. Maybe I should just get hd loader and harddrive for my ps2.
