Battle for middle earth help

Hey all, i am new to these forums, but i have read the rules and believe i know what not to ask for and what to ask for so, here we go.

I made myself a copy of battle for middle earth off my ORIGINAL dvd, i dont have a dvd burner so i have to use virtual drives for everything. Its a damn good thing that i made myself a copy because my original is pretty f.u.b.a.r. Now i have been trying to get this to work for a while now with plent of "insert dvd" errors, i have GRUDGINGLY found a fix for this but when i goto load the game now, the splash screen will apear and dissapear and the game will NOT load. I am running windows 2000 server but i have checked this out and the game is apparently compatible with my OS. so im all outta ideas.

Any help would be very greatly appreciated.
