Right, from previous threads i understand it's necessary to rename your tracks so that they are burnt onto cd in the order you require (as nero etc burns tracks in alphabetical order).

However, for mixes (eg 'the wall') there is still half second gap between tracks when playing back in realplayer and win media player.

Anyone know of a s/w player which doesn't do this, it can't be difficult to program can it? (I would imagine the player would need to create a temp file and join the current and next track together to simulate 'continuous' playback). I suppose i could give it a go if there's nothing out there.

I'm not sure what you mean...do you want to burn a CD from MP3s and eliminate the spacing between tracks...or do you want to listen to a CD already made that has spaces between tracks?

There are some MP3 utilities out there (sorry, not fresh in my mind) which can combine, split, edit, etc...I have used CD_Ex (downloads.com : "cdex" search) to make one big MP3 out of the songs, then used um, one of those utilities I can't remember the name of to edit the now-one-big-MP3 to split the tracks (I added up the song length from the album track listings). There is also a setting in NERO (I think right-click and EDIT or something) where you can remove spaces between tracks(set to 0 seconds), but when I make a CD from MP3s (Matter of fact, I did THE WALL also for a friend) but I still had a slight gap between the songs which showed up on CD player and on the computer as well. I hope I could help!

Viss, i didn't expalin myself clearly enough... the mp3's are burnt onto a data cd (zero gap between tracks - disc at once 'sort of').

Players I've tried all have about 0.2 sec 'processing time' between tracks before playing the next track. Combining the mp3's into a single one seems the only option at the mo (which means no direct access to tracks).

there must be a player that can play mixes??? I might have a go at writing something if i can find the time (and some pre-written open source code).

Jok2,

There is no gap between tracks parameter in data CDs, as there is only one data track that carries the MP3 files.

Some MP3 players have gapless playback features, like 1by1 Player for example. Or you can do a short cross-fade to smooth the gap.

1by1 is the one! sometimes you can hear the change of track but its bearable. all it needs now is ID3 tag support.
