hey i ripped troy to mpeg2 and it says it's only 3.6 mb, but when i use mydvd to burn it, it says i have -4409.51 mb remaining. WTF?!?!

Checkout DVD Shrink to compress AFTER you have rendered your MPEG file to VOB files so that they can be burned to disc. Try using Divx to DVD.
