My backups are jumping in the console. Could this be due to a dirty lens, bad media, or something else? If it is the lens, will one of those general dvd lens cleaning discs work? My original Ps2 games work fine! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

It could be bad media, or too fast of a burn.
Tell us what steps you are taking (type of burner, media, software, burn speed etc).
You should get some good answers then.

DONT PLAY JUMPING OR SKIPPING DISCS.... its a good way to lose a PS2. Most likely your discs are dying or were bad in the first place. You probably used media that was not so kosher. Try some T.Y.s or some Ritek G04... Just check with your manufacturer of your hardware says and use anything that isnt a product of them because most likely their media sucks anyways but they may reccomend other good media for your drive. Different drives burn different media variously. Anyways thats my piece and lay off the bad discs.

if the game is skipping and jumping.. you need to either rebuild the DVD or you need to burn it onto a DVD+R and it will work perfectly like mine always do. But you need a v4 or better PS2 to play DVD+Rs.
Good Luck with the help im giving you!

STOP WASTING TIME AND MONEY
USE QUALITY MEDIA
The following list is in preference order. The best discs are near the top of the list. The discs at
the bottom of the list are suitable only for a landfill.
Almost flawless burns with 95-100% reliable results:
PVC = Pioneer = (-R)(-RW)
MXLRG01, MXLRG02 = Maxell = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
MCC = Mitsubishi Chemicals = (-R)<--VERBATIM
TDKG02 = TDK Corp = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
TAIYOYUDEN or YUDEN = Taiyo Yuden = (-R)
Decent discs, though not perfect, about 85-95%
success rate:
RICOHJPN = Ritek or Ricoh = (+R)
SONYD04 = Sony = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
PRODISC = Prodisc Media = (+RW)
INFODISC = Infodisc Media = (+RW)
RITEKG04 = Ritek = (-R)
RITEKG03 = Ritek = (-R)
OPTODISC = Optodisc = (-R)
Quality can be very questionable, about 50-80% success rate:
LEADDATA or LD01 or LD or LEDA = Lead Data = (-R)(-RW)
PRINCO = Princo = (-R)(-RW)
RITEK = Ritek = (-RW)
ONIDTECH = OnidTech = (-R)
Pathetic garbage media, landfill material, about 0-50% success rate:
RITEKG01, RITEKG02 = Ritek = (-R)
PIODATA = Lead Data = (-R) ... often sold as "Pioneer OEM" but that's false
Unbranded PIO = Fake Pioneer = (-R) ... often sold as "Pioneer OEM" but that's false
Unbranded SONY = Fake Sony = (-R)
Unbranded MXL = Fake MXL = (-R)
ACCU = Unknown OEM = (-R)
LONGTEN = Unknown OEM = (-R)
AN31, AN32, ANWELL, AN30 = Unknown OEM = (-R)
OPTODISC = Optodisc = (+R)(+RW)
MATRIX = Unknown OEM = (-R)
CMC = CMC Magnetics = (+R)(-R)
ANYTHING ELSE = Unknown OEM or NEW
