Using the topic as a reference. has anybody purchased one of these yet...??

If so I'd like to know how it actually works...also if anybody knows a good review of this with testing and feedback it would be much appreciated because by looking at what it SAYS it can do it seems very interesting...

Thanks guys.

it only plays movies encoded in DivX versions 4.xx and 5.xx.
most movies are not encoded with these divx versions...
so i think it's not very interesting plus it's very expensive too.

Does anyone have any information about availability in the US? Maybe a link of some web site selling this?

My honest opinion would be that spend the money by buying a cheap-o no-name DVD player and DVD-R writer instead, the price would be around the same as buying this one.

And the fact that it doesn't play DivX3.11 alpha -encoded videos makes it relatively useless for playing "Kazaa movies", since most of the "scene releases" are still encoded with DivX3.11 alpha SBC.

But that's just my opinion..

Ok all said in previous replies is kinda right.
But the reencoding of a div3 to a div5.02 takes between 15 and 30 minutes.
You can do this while eating or at night with Virtual dub.
The biggest advantage is that you can store about 6 movies (710Mb each)on a dvd +/-R/RW.
I'm a movielover and have over 200 original DVD's.
The price of org DVD's is much to high so i got cable internet and use kazaa for fileshare.
Now I reencode to m2v+mp2 and author in DVDmaestro this takes about 10Hrs to do, Including reencoding + authoring.
If i can burn the divx or xvid directly to dvd. it saves me a lot of time.
The only thing i know i can do with a dvd is add subtitles, i don't know if i can do that with the divx/xvid also?
If you can do that, then I know what I'm gonna ask/buy for my birthday.

In the Netherlands you can watch the site
www.revoy.nl 3200DX (in Dutch)

The player also supports XviD and THAT is the codec most movies are encoded in at this time.

Why the Revoy? You can buy the KiSS at www.divxplayer.nl or www.divxplayer.be and get full support from KiSS Technology!
