ive read quite a few threads of people having trouble, seemingly moreso with the newer xbox's, not being able to boot to their MS dashboard after a chip install, so I thought Id add a few tips
first most obvious, make sure your hard drive is locked (newest configmagic will lock a 1.6 , so will cromwell flashbios)
Make sure that your MS dashboard isnt corrupt, a good way to try is being able to boot it from the evox menu, as some auto installers are setup to do so.
Even after locking, many people are saying that they are getting error 13 ,this might be an old trick to some of you modders, but for the newbys it may help.

Get a hold of a game that has xbox live, OR use a xbox mag demo disc with a live demo on it, and run it, this will install xbox live to your dash.
99 times out of 100, youll find that when you do this, you can boot your MS dash with the chip disabled.
