Does anybody know how the xvid versions relate to the builds (or codecs, as reported by some applications)?

So far I found out that:
- xvid0036 means version 1.0.2
- xvid0035 means version 1.0.1
- xvid0030 means version 1.0 RC4

However, I have some anime episodes compressed with xvid0035C or xvid0036C. I don't understand what's with the extra 'C'. Does anybody know what it means, and what version they match?

I also have another question: I am trying to recompress an XVID video with a video sample size (reported by Windows properties) of 12 bits using VirtualDub. I want to get the same sample size after recompression. However, if I choose "fast recompress" and XVID I get a sample size of 16 bits.

What is this "video sample size"? Is it the same as the color depth? How do I set it from VirtualDub? If it's the same as the color depth, the only values I can set are 16, 24 and 32 bits. How can I get an output sample size of 12 bits?
