Can I back up DVD PS 2 games w/o MopChip ?

Can I do it ?
If not , What kind of Mod-Chip is the best one ? Is it easy to install ? Do I have to open the hold PS 2?
Cause When I'm try to play some import games from Japan , my PS 2 doesnt work out ?

if you do not want to open your ps2.. then get a swap disk.
