dayelite i have been reading the forums all morning and someone else has just told me there is no firmware update for a clone ?
i have two boxes so i guess it would be ok to use one as a tester

you didnt read the one where this person had a clone that went down,
as he was going to buy a new box because the clone kept freezing he thought he might try the firmware meant for the genuine box as he got nothing to lose, his feedback was it works ok on clone box's,
I have also read other feedback from another site that tells us the firmware works on clone s/v box's.
mate it's up to yourself if you want to risk it or not

you are right i will only have myself to blame if this dies on me later.
it is hard to go back to normal telly when you a box in every room (2xSv,1xEuro max, 1xoriginal) lol.

hi nead help i got a USB converter ins toPC no (COM4).ithink this is OK have fraimware&RTROM i did not link the PCto the box(starview) when i try to open the RTROM it comes up blank

oh lucky you, with all them box's you aint got nothing to lose have you, if the clone dies just buy a new box but make sure its not a clone eh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that's quite right but what i said was the firmware update for s/v works on the clone s/v

sorry daylitex are you saying the firmware to use is the 400ee api or to use the software maked genuine SV only ?

the genuine s/v box's only is an upgrade of v400ee
its v401ee but it still shows as v400ee on your s/v box after you update

use the v400 updated software/firmware for s/v, people on here say it works ok with clone s/v box's it will find the codes for you auto,
my s/v is not a clone but the new firmware works ok,
although i dont have a eurovox i believe there is also an upgraded software for it

ive a clone box chanced using the new firmware worked a treat for me,,,,,it could b a second gen sv tho im not sure but hey was worth a punt, thanks for the new fix o wise ones

Is the COMM port on your PC actually set to port 4? (Not the software, I mean the actual device on your PC)
How to Check & Change your COM Port number in XP
Assuming you are using XP?
Do the following.
START
Right Click "MY COMPUTER"
Choose "MANAGE"
In the resulting window, click on "DEVICE MANAGER"
In the right hand pane, click on the little plus sign beside "PORTS" in the right hand pane.
Right click on the USB Adapter (Should be something like "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM#)
Choose "Properties"
Click on "PORT SETTINGS" TAB
Click on "ADVANCED"
Then you will see the COM Port Number Box. You should be able to change it there using the drop down box.
Try to set it to COM2
Restart Windows
Set GTRom or STBLink to COM2 & try to connect.
If that fails try another port number.
