Hi there!

I was just wondering if there is a tool for converting
video to xvid in the same way that Dr.Divx does it?
I am a novice, but I find Dr.Divx to be a easy learning tool, though limited in many ways...
And i was looking for an other converting tool that lets you decide the filesize and aspect ratio upfront, and possibly even use xvid as the codec???

Does this make any sense??

Cheers!

Turfdwarf: Have you tried autogordianknot? It's supposed to be a very good and easy to use. It doesn't give any control however that you seek. Generally from what i've seen, the results are very good however. Regular gordian knot does give control but also requires more knowledge in order to use properly.

-Crop'ed aspect ratio
- avi2avi didn't seem to work either...

virtualdub or virtualdubmod if you're ripping dvd.
best way is through avisynth first. but it have a learning curve.

install xvid.
1.1 beta is nice. :)

if you only need to crop and resize vdub can do it.
xvid has its own status window. use that and calculate 70% of the firstpass filesize or the bitrate.
if you're too lazy to do comptest.
