Transcoding in NeroVision 2

I'm using NeroVision 2 and i using it to make a DVD. I have 3 avi's movie files that fill up the whole DVD. When i press "next" to start the burn process, it starts the transcoding process for all 3 avi files. I've done this before, but now i've become frustrated at the transcoding speeds. The project i am doing right now takes about 10 hr's (according to the est. time) to burn and transcode. I know there should be a better way of doing this. Help me out Please...
