Media Player Classic - fuzzy sound

Im not sure if its Media player classic or my computer.

I have a .avi file. it worked perfectly the first time, but when i tried to play it today, the sound is extremely fuzzy/noisy. i can barely hear what's going on, there is too much static.

i did not change any audio settings on my computer or MPC.

Anyone have had this problem? whats the cause and solution?
