Slide tool doesn't work in the slimline (v12) PSTwo. You see, the new PS2s are top-loading (fliptop), so you need a PS2LiD (http://www.ps2lid.com) to make it work with swap magic. A few other people have reported that the SM/Lid combo work perfectly fine. Mine is coming in sometime soon, and I'll tell you if it works out for me.
JQuintel, I suggest you be patient, too, and don't be impulsive. It took me three weeks to get a slimline, and since before even then, I was lurking around these forums and doing research.
PSTwo + SM combos + Media = $$$
So just wait it out :)

I'd recommend getting the SMD set since there are a few games on ps2 that comes as a CD. You only save a few dollars for getting just SMD DVD only anyway. Anyway, I got the set with a slimtool and it works great.

dont buy the magic switch, there is nothing magic about it, it F@@ks up your console.
The Slimtool is a much better alternative, and you can see the advantages of it over the magic switch here

the slimtool is designed exclusively for the slim ps2. it is the equivalent of the slide card for the old ps2.
You can buy the slimtool at the lowest price from http://www.slimtool.co.uk , the official retailer for UK. They ship anywhere in the world.
