OK I know this problem repeats itself on the forum but I have been searching for nearly a full day and no-one has come back to say how they resolved the problem in the end.

I have done all the usual suggestions, DMA, Defrag, Cleaned disc, Tried different settings in Shrink + Decrypt, Different media, Different source DVD's etc etc and the problem still exists.

I always rip the dvd using shrink to create the ISO and have never had problems with over 100 burns now its failing every time at different stages. I have tried Alcohol 120% also to see if its Decrypt but it will not burn either.

Here is the error report from decrypt and alcohol 120% note they are different movies.

The burn rate has slowed down dramatically x1.1 compared to x4.0 which is normal.

I have tried 5 movies same result with different media.
Here are my computer specs.

Abit IC7 Canterwood mobo
Corsair 512 RAM
Maxtor 120 GB HD
Pentium 4 Prescott 3.0GHz
Plextor 708a DVD
450w PSU
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

Has anyone any idea.

Just to add some info,

The ISO files have somehow turned to WINRAR files! Does that matter at all, if I extract them they change to VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS.

Just a thought probably dosn't matter.

No Seek Complete is most often caused by bad media.

You say you have tried different media?

Most people would consider that crap media.

Datawrite Grey (Fuji Dye)

Datawrite Mcc 8x Titanium Silver which are the (Disc ID: CMC MAG. AE1)

All of the above media worked fine with perfect burns and all of sudden they have all stopped.

With regard to the firmware can I jump from 1.6 to 1.8 without having to flash 1.7

I will also try Ritek G04 media tonight, ones I know that work on my drive.

Yes, I believe you can go directly to 1.08 firmware.

One of the main reasons for firmware updates is to support new or changed types and brands of media.

Version 1.06
March 18, 2004

Some of the media you are trying to burn may not have even been available when this firmware was made like.
Ritek 8x G05.

Also this is contradiction.

You are 100% correct. The vendors have actually removed the MCC from the advert.

I will flash my Plextor px708 tonight and try a burn with my present media. And a burn with Ritek G04 media that I know works.

I actually don't think it has anything to do with the media or the software, I do think it has something to do with the drive itself. Maybe dirt on the lens or maybe it just needs the firmware update or even worse< it could be trashed.

I will post my findings later tonight.

Just to get back and report that the problem has been rectified.

The problem was indeed the media as Veblin had suggested, however, I was able to use the media after I updated the firmware on my Plextor 708A from 1.06 to 1.08.

So hopefully this can help someone else that has this type of error.

On a side note I will be only using the top quality media from now on.
