dvd x rescue. wont let me click the resuce button

ive used dvd x rescue succesfully a couple of times to rescue damaged movie dvds.

today when i have gone to use it, the 'rescue' button on the top bar is there but it wont let me click it. all the other buttons are still there. i clicked 'copy all files in all sessions' to the left of 'rescue' instead which proceeded to copy the dvd to my hard drive, but it turned out to be 8gb so i cant put that onto dvd.

any ideas why it wont let me click rescue? the correct dvd drive is selected in hardware, i have tried changing dvd discs but it wasnt the disc.

any ideas anybody?
i am using version 2.1.2 build 16
