I have tried both DVDINFO Pro and Nero InfoTool to try and read DVD disk media code. My DVD writer drive is an HP 300n model and my ROM drive is an HP model HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8161B.

When using Nero there is no information on the Disc tab when I insert a disc in the ROM drive. When I insert a blank disc in the Writer the Manufacturer ID is "N/A".

When using DVDINFO I get an error message saying that my writer does not support the commands required to read MID codes on this media. My rom drive gives status message invalid media for command when I select show complete media code.

Is there sometime of firmware I could install to get drives to read media codes? I want to know who manufactured the maxell disc I bought.

have you tried using dvd dycripter to read the maufacture number.

No I have not. Does this software have some kind of advantage over the others? I thought they all did the same thing and that possibly it had something to do with my drive and not the software.

Just used DVD Identifier and that did not work either. Below is the status report. I don't know how to use DVD Decrypter to obtain media info.

to get the info with dvdd
put the blank dvd into drive then
click on
Mode
ISO>
Read
this will give the info

but it looks like you need to upgrade the firmware of your drive
do a search to find the upgrade for your drive
