I use DVD shrink to back up with. perfect. Playing back on a stand alone the movies stops (freezes) in the last 20 minutes.? Any solution to this?

Could be several problems, but sounds like media, what are you using?

Well it may be your media then, perhaps try some TDK, Sony, Verbatim, TY, maxell and there are a few more good ones.
Burn at 4x and make sure all programs are disabled whilst the copying and burn process is happening.
