people have to realize that every dvd rom and burners only like certain dvd blank media . the people who made the dvd burners know this to be true .you have to research your dvd burner for its compatible media for the burner.then you have to see if there are firmware updates for your dvd burner . SONY is very picky about certain blank dvd r media . so is pioneer also.i use pioneer , sony,and plextor and they all are "case sensitive"(only likes certain blank dvd`s)to each burner.i found that the only freat media i liked is ridata 4 or 8x , and star 4x`s.they work well.hope this helps and happy burning .........
