I am trying to backup "Curb Your Enthusiam Season 1". I thought this would be an old subject but didnt find any existing threads on this.. Anyhow, when using DVD Shrink, I get a "Cyclic Redundancy Error" about 10% through. This is while decrypting VTS_01_1.VOB. I tried to use DVD Decrypter to rip this DVD onto my HD. I checked the Box "Ignore Read Errors", in the preferences but when decrypting VTS_01_1.VOB it shows 1 read error and it retries forever until I skip the file. I found some threads where people were trying to backup The Bourne Supremacy and recieved a similar error. Scuba Pete mentioned something about someone running in green shorts... Im guessing that has nothing to do with this dvd since there is no "Unreferenced Materials" on this disc. Anyone have any ideas on how to rip this disc?

I let DVD Decryptor work on this one file and after an hour and more than 300 retries it completed. Now I am having another problem with DVDShrink. When I click Open Files and then select the Video_TS folder for CYE it gives me the following error: Failed to open file "D:\CURB_ENTHUSIASM\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_8.VOB". The odd thing about this error is the fact that there is no VTS_01_8.VOB on the disc and it also doesnt give me this error when opening the disc, I only get it when opening the files I ripped from the disk.

Bah, I hate to keep responding to my own thread but I just re-decrypted the whole disc and it doesnt have a problem reading the nonexistant VOB file now.

I copied this disk the same way I copy all my disks. DVD Decrypter to decrypt, Shrink to compress, Decrypter to burn. Zero problems. Though I guess you got it working now.

Yeah, I mentioned earlier that the disc had no visible scratches. After closer inspection I did notice some very small scratches. And the backup I made has some video fallout in the exact spot where it got the cyclic redundancy error (when Larry is arguing with Richard Lewis about calling him at sundown) in DVDShrink. I was under the impression this was some type of copy protection but now that I backed up the rest of the CYE discs I know it must've just actually had a problem reading that area of the disc. I have never encountered an error that stops the reading process because of a scratched disc before so It never crossed my mind that it could've been the cause.
