have any of you ever play gta vc on pc? if you have you know that they have hack for the game to do crazy thing right? Well what about the ps2? I got HDD in it,and i also got the gta san andreas so is there a way to hook it up to the pc and make the hack for the game and then play on the ps2? since the san andreas is not out for the pc.
This site has some nice GTA VC hacks. Their *.TXD viewer can open the TXD files from your GTA SA disc and view/save the GTA SA pics, such as the loader screens. The available programs do not allow you to inject your own pics, however. I started work on a program to do this, but ran out of free time. Its a derivative of the bitmap specification. Anyway, there are several files worth looking at on your GTA SA disc. The simplest are the text files. I assume these can be edited. Once you understand what some of these files do, the sky is the limit. There is also a PSS viewer for viewing cutscenes, etc, if you check on the 'net.
The data folder has text files for viewing/editing.
carcol.dat - The colors available for each vehicle
handling.cfg - The physics of each car; speed, accel.
popcycle.dat - The density of people in a given area
shopping.dat - Improve your sex appeal, respect here!
weapon.dat - Very interesting!
The text folder has a file with the full game script. Mine is american.GXT, and can be viewed with notepad.
As for testing your edits, you can burn a backup DVD that has your changes and run it on a modded PS2, or write it to a harddrive, and run it using HDLoader.
