DMS4 Modchip problems

I have a dms4 modchip in my PS2 v7 and i have made the installation correctly as shown at

except for the using of a 20 awg for "gnd" and "A" connections if I'm not mistaken. My PS2 is working well with originals but when it comes to backups it works like it hasn't got a chip.Could the 20 awg be the problem? Why does this happens?!AND MORE IMPORTANT:WHERE CAN I BUY 20 AWG WIRES?
