Hey guys, I just had a thought.
How does the PS2 boot DVD's? Is it just checking one part of the DVD to make sure it is copyrighted? I observed and I think that it just reads the data which is located right near the hole. If it was possible to carefully replace the other parts of the DVD with the backup, maybe it would boot like an original?? I read that SwapMagic was really an orignal PS2 game or demo or so on... The Press X thing was just pressed on top of the data which is really a game? Any ideas? Corection? Ideas? Please comment :)

PS2 games are actually pressed DVD/CD discs, they are not burned. PS2 games use the Burst Cutting Area (BCA) of the disc to identify themselves to the PS2 unit. The BCA is not part of a disc that you can burn on, it is only replicated on pressed discs. So, the only way to play backups is to get boot-discs or a mod-chip.
