Problem when burning DVD

I'm using winAVI to convert my AVI files to DVD format. I'm then Using Nero Burning Rom to burn the .VOB and .IFO files to the dvd. The problem I'm running into is that when I put the DVD into my computer it shows 0 data on it, and it won't play in my DVD player. Am I missing something? I'm using +R discs.

Does your version of Nero have Nero Vision Express? If yes, I would use it to convert the AVI to DVD and burn within the same program. That may help. If you don't have Nero Vision Express you can downlod a 30 trial of the full Nero Program.
