HPs Light Scribe burners

I saw HPs commercial on Light Scribe burners that etch a lable onto DVDs. Are there companies out there producing these drives for people without a HP? Is it possible to get a drive from HPs website and are they any good for backing up movies? I think the whole concept of light scribe is pretty cool. Also a friend told me they sell printers just for cds and dvds that do the same thing, but I have yet to find any online, maybe Ive been looking in the wrong places?
