Xbox telephone problem

Hello all, I am posting this thread on behalf of my sister. I do not have an xbox and know nothing about them but I told her I would try and find my answer through afterdawn.
What it is is we cannot telephone her when her nephew is on his xbox or it cuts him off.
She has broadband so the internet is unaffected when we phone.
Is this a common problem or is there someway around this please.

Is the phone over the cable line? Some cable company's have phone servive through the cable system.It shouldn't affect the call or xbox live but you could call the cable co. and see if the problem could be solved.
