DVD burning - freezing computer at exactly 36% done everytime

Hi, I have tried DVD Shrink to back-up a dvd of mine and it Hangs the computer in the burning stage at exactly 36% into the main movie, I have tried Nero and DVD Decrypter and both of these stop at exactly 36% also.
The film is backed up to hard disc and can be ran from there, no problem, it is only in the burning to a blank disc, that I have this problem.
I am burning to SONY DVD+RW discs.
My computer is an AMD Athlon XP2400+, 512mb ddr, radeon 9000 128mb and 120gb hd.
DVD - EMPREX

I don't think it is a heat issue, as it is not a random time.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
