PC conneced to TV (S-Video) choppy playback

I just hooked up my PC to my TV to watch DVD's temporarily cause my dvd home dvd player is broke

The picure comes thru just great but the playback is choppy
I am running a AGP video card with 128 meg ram using the S-Video output I have 512 on board ram.
oh and a Celeron 2.2 proc
I have tried changing pc screen resolution
I have also tried both my pc dvd player's (they are both new and quick)
and last of all my tv is a decent Sony with high lines of resolution.

Anyone got any ideas why the chop on playback ?
