Hello All! I'm a neophyte ripper and I've run into some problems with my first rip. I've been following the DVD into DivX5 Format: 16:9 Guide to a Tee, ripping my first DVD, and the end result out of VirtualDub isn't good at all.

First, the files are grossly larger than I apportioned them to be in DVtool; the first and second-passes are about 1.7 and 2.3 GB each, respectively, even though I set it to be about 700 MB in DVtool.

Second, after the final product (I'm assuming the final product is the second-pass) comes out of VirtualDub, the movie is all pixelated with multicolored squares.

I don't know whether this is a problem with the specific movie, the software, or the instructional guide. I've included a list of the versions of the software I downloaded and the specific information about the movie. I appreciate your expert advice and suggestions and thank you in advance for your help.
