I am trying to burn a VCD but my file is too big for the disc. Is there a way that I can split the file in half to burn on two discs? Please help me if you can.

Yes, and it is easy. Download (if youdon't have it already) TMPGEnc from this website, then use the MPEG Tools on the menu. When it opens, go to Merge and Cut, find your file, then double click on it. You will be then able find the part of the movie you want to cut (about 70 minutes, I recommend) then run it to a new filename. Do the same again, only starting from where you left off and hey presto.
Follow the splitting to two VCD part in the guide on this site in the articles site for more information. The guide is called DVD to VCD using .......
Paul.

Yes I have heard of this problem, but it has never happened to me. All I can suggest is that you make sure that when you are in Merge and Cut, you select Video CD before you cut and run. I suggest you browse forums for this error, I am certain I have seen it discussed there, but paid it no heed, as it was not an issue for me.
Good luck and sorry I couldn't be more help.
Paul.

I have not found anything in the forums that can help me. The first half of the movie turned out great. The second half looked great but with no sound. If there is anyone else who may be able to help please let me know. Thanks again.

I have found another problem that someone may be able to help me with. I have downloaded a movie from Kazaa and when I try to burn to vcd it tells me its an illegal stream. I have tried to use TMPGencoding and it would not work. It told me it could not load "P3package.dll". I'd appreciate any information on this matter.

Be sure that you have exctracted all files in the tmpgenc zip file to a folder then go to that folder and start tmpgenc.exe..
you may need to make a shortcut to tmpgenc.exe instead..
Otherwise, re-download the latest version and delete the old.. extract and try again.

as for your other problem, try de-muxing the files and using separate audio and video files for input when splitting.. you can do a simple demux from the video tools portion of TMPGenc.

Thanks for your help. I'm still a little confused though. When you say demux, does that mean demultiplex? I don't see anything that says demuxing. How do I use different audio and video inputs with the same movie?

yes, demux=demultiplex
don't mind my blabbering, I think I was half asleep last night while writing the post above.. you can't do separate audio & video when splitting with merge & cut. try instead using DVTool

best of luck.. I'm off to work now.

I managed to split the file(i think) using the DVtool but it came out as one file. Where do I go from here. Sorry to have to ask, but I'm new at this and I can't find the answers in the forums.

I was able to encode my movie after downloading the new TMPG but the sound is off a little. I'm going to look in the forums for the answer but if its something simple you can tell me I'd really appreciate it. The forums can be a little overwhelming.
