Apple II Pro + v7 PS2 = fried??

I need some help guys!

So the other day my friend asked me to help him chip his PS2 (v7) with an Apple Pro II he had. Seemed simple enough, apart from a few shorts on the bios pins that we fixed up and some wires that had to be resoldered to the board a few times. There was, however, an apparent short on the bios chip on pins 35, 36, 37 (see the v5/v6 bios chip image http://forums.psxforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=11752). We worked at the short for about an hour but it remained so we assumed it was connected via circuitry.

Then we put it together, hoping for the best, and... it didn't boot. The front LED's, reset & eject switch, dvd drive and fan all are working. Fuses are fine. We reopened the Ps2 and removed the chip and tried again, still doesnt boot.

Latest thing we've done is to lift pin 36 off the board so that there is no continuity between 35 & 36 and 36 & 37, however 35 & 37 still seem to be connected somehow. The PS2 however, still doesn't boot. Any ideas?
