Okay, this is a tricky one, but I'll do my best to explain it.
I'm running XP home with SP1. Never had any problems until about two weeks ago. I've not done ANYTHING other than install ISOBuster in that time.
I have a CD burner and a DVD burner. Two seperate drives on the same computer. I've been burning CD's lately that fail the verification in Nero. Regardless of whether I use the CD burner or the DVD burner to burn the CD, they always fail. These are big video files. When I go to copy the file back to the hard drive in XP, it fails. The CD burner fails at 0% with a CRC error usually. Copying the file with the DVD burner gets to around 60% then fails with either a CRC error or an "incorrect function" error. This happens whether the disk was burnt in the CD burner or the DVD burner.
Now, the DVD burner burns and reads DVD's just fine. And the CD's burnt in both drives, except in one case, are perfectly readable on another computer and I can copy the files off.
I've reinstalled the ASPI layer, but to no avail. I've tried Nero and Easy CD Creator, same results.
I've tested a regular pressed disk. (Warcraft 3. The main file is 400 megs.) Copies to the drive just fine. Tested a CD someone else burnt. Works fine. (Small files admittedly.) Used a disk I burnt a couple of months ago with a big video file on it. That copies just fine. It's ONLY stuff that I've burnt in the last couple of weeks, and then, according to my OTHER computer, there is no error as it reads it just fine.
I've mostly ruled out bad media as it's happening with two entirely different sets of disks. And I would think it's ruled out by working on the other machine.
Any help or suggestions GREATLY appreciated as I've spent seven hours trying to figure this out now and am at a total loss.
