Just a quick question.

With the Slide tool...does is screw with your tray's motor?

Yes, but so will just pressing your eject button over and over for a period of time. The slide card will ruin your motor quicker though. Plus it can throw the tray off track, causing it to not open properly from now on. If you have spent the money for swap magic, you might as well and buy a fliptop case and replace the top and save yourself all the trouble.
